The Simonsbath Sawmill is owned and managed by the Exmoor National Park Authority (ENPA).  It is no longer in regular operational use by ENPA for sawing timber and at the present time routine maintenance is undertaken by a small group of volunteer custodians.

The custodians are authorised to offer tours and to start the water turbine (subject to the river water level) and diesel engine.

The custodians can also demonstrate basic timber sawing operations provided that a sufficient number of trained volunteers are present and that the equipment is in full and safe working order.  This is normally the case on our Open Days but demonstration of sawing may not be available for other visits.  Please check with us in advance if this is an important reason for your visit.

For more infomation on the mill please have a look at the History and Engineering sections of this website.
